The packing of these kits and systems definitely falls into the "only break glass in event of emergency" category. By design we wanted these emergency shelter kits to be as compact yet capable as possible. These kits are packed very tightly for this reason - no spare room is left!
Customers looking to routinely use the contents of these kits are advised to consider two approaches to ease re-packing them into their packed state. The first is to remove certain components and stow them separately. For example, the thermal blanket or poncho. The second is to simply increase the size of the GearPods containers.
Re-folding the GearPods Adventure Tarp is normally not the issue, although the combination of silicon-coating and denier of the fabric can make the material a little "slippery". On the other hand, the AMK Heatsheets Emergency Bivvy included in GearPods Shelter Pro will definitely not return to its original size after use.
